An old couple friend of Sam and Jay’s rents the Fansbys’ house while they go on an extended vacation. Meanwhile, Thorfinn’s son, Bjorn, plans to get married to the ghost of Mr. Farnsby’s mother.

Warning: Spoilers below.

Farnsby Vacation

The ghosts are talking about the events of the previous episode and how Carol was the least deserving ghost to be “sucked off.” Pete tries to encourage the others to see the good in the move, but they point out that she technically took his spot and now he’s bitter about what happened. Carol foiled him again. Meanwhile, giant water bottles keep piling up because there’s a new distributor in town that has refused to come pick up the empties. Sam is spending hours on the phone trying to get through to a person.

The Farnsbys come over and tell Sam and Jay they will be going on vacation and will be renting out their home. Later, Pete, who can leave the property, returns from a visit to the Farnsbys where he learns who will be renting the house. Garrett and Libby are old couple friends of Sam and Jay’s from the city. Unfortunately, they haven’t kept in touch since the Halloween episode where Carol died because the friends who visited during that party say Sam and Jay have lost their marbles. Still, the Woodstone owners see their opportunity to get back into the social scene.

Wedding Announcement

Thorfinn is at the yelling window where Bjorn announces he is getting married. He says he and the original Mrs. Farnsby will be getting married in front of the window, so Thorfinn can attend. The Viking ghost is excited to attend his son’s afterlife funeral since he missed out on his son’s entire life.

Meanwhile, Sam and Jay run into Garrett and Libby at the mailbox and it becomes clear that Garrett and Libby are concerned about setting them off. The couples talk about food and the conversation steers towards Jay’s restaurant, and he invites the couple to a meal. They also discuss entertainment rooms and if Garrett and Libby should temporarily redecorate. Jay encourages them to do so. Unfortunately, the entertainment room they redecorate is the one with the yelling window, and they put in a book case to close off Thorfinn from Bjorn’s wedding.

Saving the wedding

The ghosts are split on whether Sam should broach the book case subject with Garrett and Libby. Some think she should protect her social standing, while others think she should make it easier for Thorfinn to attend his son’s wedding. Sam pushes slightly against the entertainment room but decides not to wreck hers and Jay’s chances of getting back in with the social group. Thorfinn is upset by this, but Pete comes up with another plan when he learns Garrett and Libby are going to be away from the house for the night.

The ghosts convince Sam and Jay to sneak in and move the book case. Thorfinn is now able to attend the wedding while Pete serves as the officiant. The wedding goes off without a hitch and Thorfinn gets to speak at the wedding. Unfortunately, Garrett and Libby came back early and Sam and Jay are caught between a rock and a hard place.

Waiting on Hold

While Sam and Jay have been going on their adventures, they’ve been able to leave one of the ghosts on hold who can come get them when it’s their turn for customer service. Trevor volunteers, because he has the ability to push a button. He also has decided that the opportunities for a grand gesture like Carol made are few and far between, but if he makes several smaller gestures, he may get “sucked off.” Sass decides to help him and the pair spend their time listening to the call waiting before deciding to watch tv. Sass tries to usurp Trevor and Trevor catches him leading to a fight. Isaac hears they are next and runs ahead of the pair to tell Sam and Jay as he has jumped onto the same plan to get “sucked off.”

Once Sam and Jay know they are next, and Garrett and Libby have returned, they have to make a choice. Sam climbs out the window and rushes over to answer the phone. Meanwhile, Jay moves the book case back into place, but the couple is coming up to watch a movie. Jay hides in the closet. Unfortunately, Garrett and Libby see a movie case called Swingers and think it’s the hit movie from the 90s, not knowing what they are in for from the Farnsbys’ personal life. The episode ends with Sam and Pete who stayed with him in shock from everything they heard from the video Garret and Libby walked.

What’s Next?

Sam and Jay finally get good help from the ghosts instead of the ghosts wrecking their lives. Still, Thorfinn finds a way to throw a wrench in their plans. The pair keep doing a lot for the ghosts since they don’t have many friends out there. The relationship keeps growing and you can see how much the ghosts are becoming family with Sam and Jay. Still, I’m not sure how well Jay is going to recover.

Plus, putting a ghost on hold for the entire episode is one of the funniest uses of the B-plot the show has ever done. They don’t do much, but they still magically manage to make it almost as strong as the A-plot.
