Since 1966, Star Trek has boldly gone where no one has gone before. The franchise made the leap from television to theaters in 1979 with Star Trek: The Motion Picture. More than four decades later, there have been 14 feature films spanning the crews of The Original Series and The Next Generation, the rebooted Kelvin Timeline, and even a Paramount+ original centered on Section 31. Their quality has varied dramatically, with some standing among the franchise's finest stories while others missed the mark entirely.

Beginning in 1966, Star Trek has carried viewers to “strange new worlds” and introduced “new lives and new civilizations” to fans. The franchise produced several television series and movies over the decades. However, in 2017, Star Trek made the jump to streaming with Star Trek: Discovery which launched on what was then called CBS All Access.
