Peacemaker begins to pay for his actions as the rest of the 11th Street Kids work to rescue him from Earth X. And a secret about his family is revealed.

Warning: Spoilers Below

Escape from ARGUS

The episode picks up right where episode six left off. Harcourt is berating Peacemaker for not noticing he was in a Nazi world. She points out that Mein Kampf is on every desk and Chris says he doesn’t “get to be this buff by reading.” She then points out the giant mural of Hitler which leads him to wonder how he missed everything. Meanwhile, Earth X’s Harcourt has called for Earth Prime Harcourt’s arrest and asks Chris what he’s doing?

Peacemaker breaks up with this odd iteration of Harcourt and immediately grabs Prime Harcourt so they can fly out of the building. Of course, they crash into a window because he hasn’t figured out how to control his jet pack while carrying another person. The pair flee on the Peacecycle until it appears police are going to catch them. Harcourt seems content with the fact she’s going to die but when they are surrounded, the pair get help from an unlikely source.

Auggie and Keith

While Chris and Harcourt are fleeing, Auggie has called Chris back to the house where he’s tied up Economos. Auggie wants to know from where Economos, Prime Peacemaker and anyone else came. He lets Keith know that their version of Chris is dead and was killed by the one with which they’ve been spending time. Auggie lets them know that if anyone knows they have a dimensional doorway, they are in big trouble. It’s presented as if he’s only worried about covering for himself.

The pair track down Peacemaker and Harcourt and find them surrounded by police. They attack the police officers to save Peacemaker and Harcourt. Then, Auggie delivers the iconic Terminator line “Come with me if you want to live.” It’s fitting since Robert Patrick plays Auggie here and was the evil terminator that line was delivered about in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The four make their way back to the Smiths’ house.

Adebayo’s Escape

Meanwhile, a mob of angry white folks are chasing Adebayo. She is able to outrun them for a bit, scale a wall and then jump in a pool to try to escape. When it looks like all hope is lost, Judomaster appears and saves her. He then uses a telephone wire to electrocute any of them in the pool. He lets everyone know that’s the most people he’s ever killed by electrocuting them with a telephone wire in a pool, breaking his previous record of four.

The pair discuss this universe and Judomaster explains that the Nazis won in this universe, so it’s not a good place to be if you are black and lesbian like Adebayo or anything that Judomaster is. They also notice how the world is not much different than the one they live in despite the fact that the most evil villains in history won. The pair lay low and play Scrobble, a terrible version of Scrabble, until it gets dark. Then, they head to Peacemaker’s house.

Double Dose of Vigilante

At Vigilante’s lair, Earth X Vigilante is explaining to Earth Prime Vigilante about what happened here. Of course, Prime Vigilante is confused since he and Peacemaker are best friends in his universe, but Earth X Peacemaker was the reason Earth X Vigilante joined the Sons of Liberty. Earth X Vigilante explains about the Nazis winning World War II which is a shock to Prime Vigilante. Earth X Vigilante is convinced Prime Vigilante’s world must be a utopia. Prime Vigilante mentions that one of the people who came with him, Adebayo, is black and the pair suit up to go rescue her.

Surprise Reveal

Auggie and Keith confront Chris, Harcourt and Economos. Peacemaker explains what happened to this dimension’s version of him. Keith wants revenge for his brother, but Auggie is quick to believe that his son’s death was an accident which angers Keith more. Police show up and Auggie threatens them to leave saying his son isn’t there (which is technically true, but who they are looking for is). He gets them off his lawn and goes back to his interrogation. Auggie makes it clear he knows his version of Chris wasn’t a good man and he’s also angry at Keith when he learns Keith was part of the mob chasing Adebayo.

Auggie gets to monologue here where the big revelation comes. Auggie knows his world isn’t very good. He’s able to enjoy the spoils of his life but he’s been working to fight against the police in his universe because he knows they are Nazis. He hates what the people in charge of his dimension stand for. Chris, who grew up with a white supremacist father in his own dimension, starts looking at this version of his father with pride. Unfortunately, this is where the best intentions lead to the worst outcome.

Origins of a Villain

Vigilante bursts through stabbing Auggie multiple times. Chris and Keith try to stop the attack but it’s clear that Vigilante has killed Auggie. It’s unclear which Vigilante did this, but my thought is that it was the Earth X Vigilante. He hated Peacemaker, so he probably hated Auggie and Keith too. But it’s clear you can see Chris struggling with the realization that this version of Auggie was a good man, not a Nazi, and was trying to guide his sons to make the world a better place.

The 11th Street Kids and Judomaster begin fleeing Earth X when Keith flies through the wall attacking Peacemaker. The pair brawl until the 11th Street Kids and Earth X Vigilante jump in stabbing him as well until Chris stops it. Reliving some of his worst moments including Prime Keith, Prime Auggie, Prime Rick Flag Jr. and Earth X Peacemaker causes him to snap. He doesn’t blame either dimension, just himself. He thinks he’s the problem. The 11th Street Kids take him through the doorway, but Harcourt stays behind ready to kill Keith.

The police show up forcing Harcourt through the doorway. Earth X Vigilante closes it but Keith is being rushed to the hospital where he survives. This version of Keith is now in the same spot that Peacemaker once was. His brother and father are dead. He has no loving family to support him. And he doesn’t even have the 11th Street Kids. While Peacemaker often made the wrong choice before meeting his friends, Keith appears to be set up to be his arch-nemesis across dimensions.

Back to ARGUS

While the team was away, Lex set Rick Flag Sr. up with Sydney Happersen, the dimensional energy expert that Lex used in Superman. Happerson did what was asked out of fear of Lex and helped ARGUS find the dimensional doorway located in Vigilante’s mother’s house. ARGUS surrounds the house preparing to waltz in and capture the team.

After the events in Earth X, Peacemaker loads up the doorway and walks out of the house to the waiting ARGUS. He tells Rick Flag Sr. the team used the doorway to come in, bring him home and convince him to hand over the tech. Judomaster corroborates that story and ARGUS arrests Peacemaker to end the penultimate episode of the season.

What’s Next?

There’s one more episode left and while the team is in a better place than they once were when the episode started, there’s still a lot to unpack. Chris is taking responsibility for his actions, but he’s still in a rough spot. The 11th Street Kids are working to make sure he’s all right, but he’s sacrificed himself to ensure they are all safe. Meanwhile, Earth X Keith has lost everything and has every reason to come back and take revenge on Earth Prime Chris.

It’ll be interesting to see where Peacemaker ends up given that he started the series in a hospital awaiting prison after having already been in prison prior to the events of The Suicide Squad. Now he’s got friends who are fighting for him and with him. Let’s see how it all breaks down.
