NEED I SAY DOOR

ARGUS decides to bring Peacemaker into custody. Meanwhile, Rick Flag Sr. makes an offer to Harcourt to get her off the bench.

Warning: Spoilers below.

Portals Beginnings

The episode starts with a young Chris Smith hunting with his father and brother when they find a strange being in the woods. Auggie Smith shoots the strange being despite protest from Chris. The shot ends up revealing the Quantum Unfolding Storage Unit that would later be found in Peacemaker’s home.

ARGUS Moves In

Back in the present, Peacemaker has returned and finds his house destroyed. He’s blaming Eagly, unaware that ARGUS is descending on his house ready to bring him in. Fortunately for Chris, the ARGUS agents are all at odds with each other, but mostly all at odds with Economos. Fleury accuses Economos of lying about the bird, Judomaster and Economos still hate each other from their season one fight that almost killed Economos and Economos hates St. Wild for wanting to kill Eagly.

Economos notices that Agent Bordeaux doesn’t seem to like Fleury which allows him to accuse Fleury of “making faces” when on the phone with her. He uses the argument to send a jumbled text message to Peacemaker alerting him and allowing Peacemaker and Eagly to flee. Judomaster finds Peacemaker and the pair fight in the woods until Peacemaker wins by landing on top of Judomaster. Meanwhile, Economos attacks St. Wild when he’s about to shoot Eagly. Economos then tells St. Wild a second eagle attacked leading St. Wild on a spiritual journey.

Moving the Storage Unit

Peacemaker meets up with Adebayo and flees to his grandfather’s old hunting cabin. There, they find a place to set up, so Peacemaker can move the entrance to the Quantum Unfolding Storage Unit out of his house and into the cabin. Chris tells Adebayo all about the other dimension and how it’s “the best ever” because he has a loving family and Harcourt is in love with him.

Back at Peacemaker’s house, ARGUS has called on Economos to pick the lock on the closet that housed the Quantum Unfolding Storage Unit. He gives Peacemaker a heads up and tries to stall, so Peacemaker has time to move the unit. Economos risks his job before finally giving in. That proves to be enough time as he picks the lock to reveal just a closet.

Harcourt’s Offer

While all this is going on, Rick Flag Sr. sets up a meeting with Harcourt. He informs her that Waller blackbooked her after Adebayo’s admission at the end of season one. This means she can’t be employed by any intelligence agency in the country and her career is essentially over. However, Flag has a Godfather-style offer for her. He wants to bring in Peacemaker. It’s clear that he wants revenge for Peacemaker killing his son, but he’s able to use the Quantum Unfolding Storage Unit as the cause.

Harcourt appears to agree to the deal, as she and Chris set up a time to meet up. She’s meeting with ARGUS including Flag and Bordeau. Meanwhile, Flag takes Economos’ cell phone because he doesn’t want Economos warning Peacemaker. As the credits roll, Economos is on the outs with ARGUS, Harcourt is trying to get back in and knows this is her only shot, ARGUS is set up to capture Peacemaker, and Chris is driving right into the trap to meet Harcourt.

What’s Next?

The season is finally starting to ramp up. Peacemaker has been in a dark place but finding a universe where his family loves him and Harcourt loves him has given him purpose. Economos has taken a stand and he’s firmly standing with Peacemaker. So what does that mean for his future at ARGUS? The trailers have made it clear that Peacemaker will end up in custody at some point. This seems like the perfect place for him to be taken down. What does that mean for him given this version of Harcourt will seem to be his undoing? And what’s up with that other universe? Something is definitely off over there even if it seems like it’s a good universe for this version of Peacemaker.
