2025 Marvel Rankings

Published on 11 December 2025 at 15:43

In 2025, Marvel and Disney released eight properties to theaters and on Disney Plus. Nine were originally scheduled, but Wonder Man was delayed until 2026. Some of these properties were amazing, while others were only okay. In this listicle, I’m going to rank the eight properties by how good I found each of them.

Remember this list is completely subjective.

8. Ironheart

This series came in at number eight on my excitement rankings for these properties before they were released. I couldn’t get excited and the series really didn’t deliver. Ironheart was introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and deserves more screen time. However, this series just wasn’t it. The series had been delayed too long to get excited and Disney rushed it out the door in two three-episode drops that let you know they had little faith in it. I want more Riri Williams, I even want more Mephisto, but I don’t want anymore of this series.

7. Eyes of Wakanda

I really didn’t know what to expect from this animated series when it was announced. That’s why it was ranked ninth on my excitement rankings. It was called the most connected MCU series of them all. I don’t know if that’s true, but it delivered quality entertainment overall. I’ve accepted that I’m not the target audience for this show, so it’s not going to speak to me. I love the animation-style. I liked the series overall. I just liked everything else more.

6. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

This show blew me away with how good it actually was. I’ve seen plenty of previous animated Spider-Man iterations, so I wasn’t super excited for this one (it ranked 7th on my excitement list.) But it told some impressive stories set in the multiverse that helped show a different path for Peter Parker if Norman Osborne had been the one to discover he was Spider-Man instead of Tony Stark. Still, I liked every other property more. I’m excited it gets a season two, but it’s still not going to rank super high on my list.

5. Captain America: Brave New World

I was really excited for this as I’ve long thought Sam Wilson deserved more of the spotlight, especially after Avengers: Endgame wrapped up the storylines for Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Natasha Romanov and so many others. This was literally number two on my excitement rankings. After watching the film, I genuinely enjoyed it. It was good but it didn’t stand out. It was a by-the-numbers superhero flick where Red Hulk’s appearance overshadowed the hero. Plus, Marvel told us quickly Red Hulk would be in it, so it didn’t even give us the surprise factor. I think the film is fine, but Disney and Marvel undermined it. It may have been unintentional, but it undermined it.

4. Fantastic Four: First Steps

This is the best Fantastic Four movie ever made, but that’s not saying a whole lot. I wasn’t super excited for its release because filmmakers have really struggled to make their story work. The 60s aesthetic looks really good, and it tells a solid story. Unfortunately, it feels very by the numbers to get us to Avengers: Doomsday. I like it. But it’s just not as good as other superhero films released in 2025 (One is named at higher rank in this listicle, the other is from DC).

3. Daredevil: Born Again

When I ranked these entries last year, this was the Marvel property I was most excited to see. It was a bit of a continuation from the Netflix Daredevil series that I loved. I couldn’t wait to see what happened with both Daredevil and Kingpin following the events of both Hawkeye and Echo. I was worried about how the behind-the-scenes issues would negatively affect the series. There’s some parts where it drags. There’s some parts that don’t make sense because it was clearly intended to be a different storyline before being changed. However, the re-tooling helped the show overall and made it a fun watch. I’m excited for season two. I just liked two other properties more.

2. Marvel Zombies

I was excited for this. It was the series coming to Disney Plus I was second most excited to see after Daredevil: Born Again. I still thought I was going to be a little let down since its setting in the multiverse meant stakes don’t necessarily apply. However, this series went above and beyond what I expected. This series nailed exactly what it needed to be. Whereas sitting on Ironheart felt like it hurt that series, I believe sitting on Zombies and letting it stew helped improve its reception. It works for animated projects, not so much for live action projects. Hopefully, there’s a season two in a few years when we’ve had more characters introduced. Plus, this series used Riri Williams more effectively than her own series did, so feed me more.

1. Thunderbolts*

Wow! I didn’t expect this movie to deliver as well as it did. It was number three on my excitement ranking. I saw this movie in theaters and while I expected to be entertained, I didn’t expect to be moved. This film ranks up there with Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Black Panther is films that are more than just fun romps but tell a cinematic story. It’s an impressive look at depression through the Marvel lens.

Those are my rankings. Some of the projects I was excited to see didn't live up to my expectations. They were good but not what I wanted. Some of the projects far exceeded what I expected. And still others hit exactly as I expected. And one got delayed, so who knows where it would've fallen?

How would you rank the marvel properties released in 2025?
