Marvel has eight properties hitting theaters and Disney Plus in 2026.
Marvel had nine properties scheduled in 2025, but only eight of them made it during the year with one being delayed to join the 2026 slate of properties. There are three live actions series, two movies, two animated series and a special presentation scheduled for 2026. But how excited are we for these projects?
In this listicle, I’m going to rank the eight properties by my excitement level, and my excitement level only. Remember this list is completely subjective.
8. VisionQuest
This is the final series set to premiere in 2026, scheduled for late in the year. It’s unclear exactly when it will drop at this time. It’s set to culminate the three season story arc that began in WandaVision and continued in Agatha All Along. Those are two of my favorite MCU shows, so you would think I would be more excited for VisionQuest to complete the story. So why is it at the bottom of my list?
The simple answer is Disney Plus's own history. They have a bad habit of delaying shows and ones scheduled for late in the year often get pushed into the next year. That includes another show on this list. I have a feeling this will be on my 2027 list as well and that’s why I can’t get excited for it, yet.

7. Wonder Man
The first Marvel property to drop in 2026 will be the one that was supposed to be dropped in 2025. I had it ranked sixth in my 2025 rankings, because it felt different from everything Marvel had done previously. I was excited to see what they would do with this series, and to be fair, I still am excited to see that. I’ve just become far more wary of anything that was greenlit during the era where Bob Chapek was in charge at Disney.
Disney greenlit a lot of shows during the pandemic that have led to special effects companies being overworked. That partnered with the 2023 strikes from both writers and actors have put a damper on a lot of those properties. Iron Heart was delayed and then seemed to be dumped in two weeks with three episodes per batch. Echo was dumped all at once. For shows they have faith, they give them weekly releases. For shows they don’t, it’s a dump and run. I have a feeling this will be the same and won’t lead anywhere. That’s why I’m reluctant to get excited beyond the hope for an enjoyable short run.

6. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
Here’s the first series getting a second season to make my list. Season one of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man was ranked seventh in my 2025 excitement list. I had seen enough previous animated iterations of Spider-Man to not be super excited for its release. Still, it delivered beyond my expectations, and I was very happy to see a second season get greenlit and turned around so quickly.
However, its multiversal setting gives it a feel where anything can happen, but those stakes are minimal overall. It’s unlikely to affect the main timeline, so my excitement is still tempered. It’s a good show. I’m glad it’s coming back. But I’m more excited for other properties.

5. X-Men 97
The second animated series releasing in 2026 comes in at number five. Season one of X-Men 97 is still my absolute favorite season of television on Disney Plus, not just Marvel, but any series Disney has released. It’s amazing content and I’m incredibly excited to see a second season. So why is it in the lower half of my list?
The main reason is, much like Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, it’s a multiversal story where the stakes are low because it doesn’t affect the main timeline. Also, some of my excitement is nostalgia. This is a continuation of the series I watched as a kid. I will always be excited to see it, but I’m also excited for other, newer properties.

4. The Punisher Special Presentation
I’ve long been an advocate for more special presentations. I loved Werewolf By Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and feel like Disney has failed to capitalize on how these can continue stories without feature length films or a series that’s too long because there’s only enough story for the special presentation. Plus, depending on the character, these can be filmed at the same time as successful series, so they don’t have to pay more for the budget. That’s likely what happened here with Punisher appearing in Daredevil: Born Again.
The last time we saw the Punisher, he was one of the vigilantes Kingpin had locked up as part of his crackdown. However, the stinger shows him luring a police officer in and escaping. It’ll be interesting to see where he is in Daredevil: Born Again season two. Of course, he’s also scheduled to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and this special presentation is set to be released in between the two properties. It’s likely to fill in the gaps between the two. And that has me happy.

3. Avengers: Doomsday
By the time this hits theaters, it will have been seven years since the last Avengers film. In that time, we’ve had some great and not-so-great films, along with the expansion of interconnected series that were intended to tie into the universe at large. (We had already had Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, Inhumans and the Netflix series that were loosely connected, but Marvel barely acknowledged most of them.) The appetite is there. We need a new Avengers films. Phases four and five felt a bit disjointed without building toward Avengers films, but phase six is already feeling more familiar with this film over the horizon.
The reason it’s not higher up on the list is simple, there’s a lot of weird things surrounding this film. It was originally titled Kang Dynasty, but then the Johnathan Majors issues happened. That changed the importance of Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quauntumania and forced re-writes. From there, the change from Kang to Dr. Doom made sense, but then it was announced Robert Downey Jr. would play Doom. That brought just as many, if not more, questions as excitement. I want to see an Avengers film so badly, but this has me more morbidly curious than excited right now.

2. Daredevil: Born Again
One of the best series from 2025 gets a second season in 2026. Daredevil: Born Again was a bit disjointed due to some episodes having been written and filmed before a complete overhaul took place. From there, the show found its footing as the season moved along. It ended on a cliffhanger, but that’s perfectly fine for a show that had already had a second season greenlit.
I can’t wait to see what happens next with this series. It touched on some very timely topics despite being written and filmed months to years prior to those topics arising. I want to see more of what they cover. Plus, it’s already been greenlit for season three, so that raises my anticipation for this season.

1. Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Marvel’s most popular, singular superhero is returning to the big screen. After making the world forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, Tom Holland returns for a fourth solo outing as the wall-crawler. He’s the first Spider-Man actor to get a fourth film and it’ll be interesting to see which comics storyline Marvel chooses to adapt for this film.
It’s the first of the two films hitting theaters in 2026, so this will likely have major implications on what we will see in Avengers: Doomsday. That’s part of why I’m more excited for this than anything else. This will be necessary viewing to prepare for the next Avengers film.

That’s my list. What’s your ranking? What are you most excited to see?
