Snitch v. Deadbeat
Georgie’s Meemaw enlists Mandy to help collect money from Mandy’s father, Jim, after he lost money on sports betting. Audrey and Georgie step in to try to smooth things over between Jim and Meemaw.
Meemaw the Bookie
Meemaw pays a visit to the diner to speak to Mandy. An earlier episode revealed Meemaw had gotten back into gambling, this time running a sports book. She employed Mandy previously, and now, she wants Mandy’s help again. Mandy’s dad, Jim, lost $4,000 on a bet and hasn’t paid up. Meemaw wants Mandy to pressure her father to pay his debts to her.

Mandy goes in to get the money, but she works to ensure her mother, Audrey, doesn't find out. Jim and Mandy discuss it and Jim gives Mandy a down payment, however, that’s not enough for Meemaw. She doesn’t want to seem like a weak bookie or others will try to take advantage of her. The battle spills over and Audrey learns about the lost money. She’s angry at Jim, but decides to talk to Meemaw herself to get everything cleared up.
Audrey vs. Meemaw
Audrey confronts Meemaw over Jim’s debt, and it’s clear from the get-go the pair don't like each other. Audrey tells Meemaw that Jim won’t be paying and Meemaw tells Audrey she’s going to get her money. Audrey threatens to turn Meemaw in to the police since sports betting is illegal in Texas, or at least it was in the 1990s when this show is set. Meemaw says she’s bluffing because if Meemaw goes down, Mandy goes down too.

Audrey heads to the police station to turn in Meemaw, but she starts getting cold feet. She looks around and doesn’t want to risk putting her daughter in legal trouble. She decides against reporting anything because Georgie and Mandy got lucky once when Meemaw got caught and Georgie was let off easy. They don’t want to risk something worse.
Georgie Fixes Everything and Messes Up Everything
The episode ends with Georgie telling Jim, Audrey and Mandy that everything will be okay. He went and paid his grandmother so she would leave everyone alone. Jim is mad that Georgie stepped in as it was his mistake and he was going to fix it. Audrey is mad that Georgie paid his grandmother as she’s opposed to Meemaw trying to collect money. Mandy is mad that Georgie used money they had been setting aside to pay his grandmother. Georgie helped everyone, yet everyone was mad at him for helping.
Rating
As the first season of Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage winds down, it is really hitting its stride. The show is consistently funny now after a lot of hits and misses early in the season. This episode perfectly encapsulates why this show is getting a third season and why so many people who started this ride with The Big Bang Theory stuck with it through Young Sheldon and continue to hang around for Georgie and Mandy.
