Miami Beach and a Magical Family Christmas
Georgie and Mandy discuss Christmas plans and work plans while Audrey and Jim try to take the family on a big vacation. Meanwhile, Mary plans to take Missy to see Sheldon, but Missy doesn’t want to go.
Warning: Spoilers Below
Working on Christmas
Georgie approaches Ruben about keeping the store open during Christmas week. Jim would close the store during this week, but Georgie thinks it would be a way to make some extra money while Fabengacher’s store is also closed. Ruben had plans to spend the holiday with his family in Mexico, but Georgie convinces him and he agrees to keep the store open.

During this timeframe, Audrey wanted to know what Georgie and Mandy’s plans for Christmas were. She points out they spent Christmas with Mary the previous year and she’s hoping she’ll get her granddaughter all to herself this Christmas. It’s a bit selfish considering Cici lives with her, so she gets to see Cici far more often than Mary does. Still it works out, because Mary is taking Missy to California to see Sheldon. Mary invites Georgie, Mandy and Cici to accompany them, but Georgie plans to be working. This makes Audrey happy that her granddaughter will be with her, but she’s jealous that Mary is going on a vacation and she’s staying at home.
Vacation Plans
Jim and Audrey decide to give the entire family a trip to Florida, so they can all spend Christmas at the beach. This upsets Ruben, because Georgie won’t be there to work at the shop during the holiday after it was his idea to stay open. It also upsets Mary, because when she wanted Georgie to come with them, he had to work, but now he’s going with his in-laws on a vacation. Granted, the McAllisters are the ones paying for the vacation, so it’s a bit of a different scenario. Missy overhears this discussion and wants to go with Georgie on vacation because they are going to a beach instead of going to Pasadena, California.

There’s a small wrench in the plan, though. Mandy had told her bosses that she was available to fill in during the holiday. The weekday meteorologist had to miss a little bit of time and Mandy was asked to fill in. This meant the McAllisters had to delay their trip two days. Then, everyone gets stuck in traffic and, by the time they reach the beach, it’s raining there despite Mandy forecasting the system to go west. The episode ends with Connor singing about all the terrible things that happened to everyone, but he gets to spend time with Cici showing a wonderful bond between uncle and niece. Meanwhile, Ruben closed the shop anyway to spend time with his family in Mexico.
What’s Next?
The mid-season finale doesn’t really build much on the overall story arc, but it does show where the McAllisters, Coopers and Ruben all are in terms of celebrating the holiday. In the end, the real lesson of the episode is that… AUDREY SUCKS! All of them are flawed, but this woman wants her granddaughter, who lives with her, to herself and away from the girl’s other grandmother and then gets jealous that the other grandmother is going on a vacation. AUDREY SUCKS!
