Two Idiots on a Dirt Bike
Mary asks for Georgie’s help when she catches Missy in her room with a boy. The boy happens to be the son of Mandy’s co-worker who Georgie befriended previously. And Missy and the boy act impetuously as they try to run away on a dirt bike.
Mary Finds Missy
The episode opens with Mary calling Georgie to vent about Missy. She tells her son that she caught his younger sister in a room fooling around with a boy. Georgie wants to know why she’s telling him and she just says she needs to tell somebody. Georgie relays the conversation to his in-laws with Mandy wanting gossip, Jim trying to stay out of it and Audrey commenting on the similarities between Georgie and Missy. Georgie tells Mary he’ll pray for Missy and Mary tells him to “pray for me.”

At the diner, the next day, Mandy’s co-worker comes in complaining about how her “idiot son” got caught in a bedroom with a girl, and the girl’s mother called to scream at her. Mandy figures out her co-worker's son is dating Missy and comes home to relay the information to Georgie. This causes Georgie to go talk to Todd, the boy he once befriended, about his sister.
Georgie Intervenes
Georgie goes over to confront Missy’s boyfriend which leads to a lot of trouble. Todd hides in the house and tries to comfort Georgie, but this isn’t like talking to one of his other friends. Georgie is being protective of his sister rather than wanting to hear about his sister’s boyfriend’s actions. Missy calls Georgie to yell at him for getting involved in her business. And Mandy’s co-worker comes in the diner to yell at Mandy about Georgie threatening her son. Mandy and her co-worker get into a fight and Mandy returns home looking worse for wear.

Missy makes a rash decision and tries to convince Todd to run away with her. He agrees and the pair start heading to Mexico on his dirtbike. Meanwhile, Mary calls Georgie asking for help because she went into Missy’s room and her daughter was gone. Meanwhile, Mandy’s co-worker calls and has a note that says Todd and Missy are headed to Mexico. Georgie and Mandy hop in the truck and go to look for his sister.
Searching for Miss
Todd and Missy have to stop for gas and they get into a fight. It’s clear they are just two dumb kids who don’t really understand anything that’s going on. They like each other, but they aren’t prepared to run away. After getting gas, the pair turn around and head back to Medford. When Missy gets home, Mary hugs her and then yells at her.

Meanwhile, Georgie and Mandy appear to be on the same page as the pair search for Missy and Todd. They stop at numerous gas stations and get an idea of where the teens were headed. Unfortunately, they don’t know that Todd and Missy turned around, and despite having stopped at numerous gas stations asking about the teens, they never got gas themselves and end up running out as they head to the Mexico border, ending the episode on a note that hints at another of the many problems that will lead to their inevitable divorce.
Rating
This is one of those genuinely funny episodes that hits the right spot between silly and heartfelt. Georgie is the man of the family since his father passed and while Missy isn’t his responsibility, he still steps up to help. The odd question is why didn’t Mary and Todd’s mother also go out looking for the teens. The search didn’t need to fall solely on Georgie and Mandy. Still, this is one of the better episodes with a lot of laughs.
